so as you all know we welcomed our son, Kian Anthony, into the world and into our family on May 5th at 3:47am. The dr decided to induce me due to pre-eclampsia, which basically means my blood pressure was high, i was retaining too much fluid (my feet and legs were wicked swollen), some of my blood work came back high but what he was worried about was my uric acid level. i was terrified of being induced and it took much discussion between me and tony along with jen and other nurses at the hospital and the dr for us to agree with it because we were so scared and it was so sudden. it was like one minute i was fine and then all of a sudden the topic of induction was brought up and we were like what the heck. no matter if i was induced or i were to continue the pregnancy until i went naturally, i was assured the baby would be fine but it was me they were worried about. the only way to treat pre-eclampsia is to deliver the placenta. so at 4:30pm, the pitocin was started. i slept the best i could between contractions until 2am listening to music, relaxing, walking, breathing, rocking. i woke up and told the nurse i had to use the bathroom but once i moved, my water broke and i told her i did not pee my pants but i was leaking. she said that 90% of her inductions they have to break the water so she was surprised mine broke on its own. up to that point i was 2-3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. shortly after i told her i felt a little pressure and she checked me but i was only 4-5 cm. so with all the pain i was in, i was having wicked back labor, i decided to get an epidural. but just by sitting up waiting for the anesthaelogist to get ready i felt the need to push. the nurse said it was impossible since i was just checked and i was only 4-5. after a few more contractions still waiting for my epidural, i told her i don't care what you say i need to push, the baby is there. she kept saying it wasn't time and just try to relax. so i ignored the need to urge. once the epidural was in, i got the test dose, he gave me the first dose which only lasts like 10 mins and before he started the drip he asked me to lie down and at that point he told me he has good news and bad news. the good news is the epidural is in. the bad news news is he can't start the drip cause the head was crowning and it was time for me to push. i wasn't surprised since i told the nurse 20 mins earlier i needed to push. after only 4-6 pushes, jen yelled out it was a Kian. i had warned everyone in the delivery room not to say anything about the sex of the baby until his or her aunt told me and tony it was a Kian or a Kenzie. it was way more special that way. the ironic thing is that i was told by all of the ob nurses that i got the worst spinal headache that they have ever seen and they don't even consider what i got an epidural since i had no pain relief at all from what i did get. most women who get spinal headaches, just can't sit up straight or tolerate any light. for me, i couldn't open my eyes more than 10 secs cuz everything was blurry and fuzzy and the world was spinning. i couldn't move my head without throwing up. i couldn't sit up, or stand any light. my head was in so much pain. i didn't even know what kian looked like until 8pm mon night or knew when visitors came in to congratulate us and see the baby. i received a blood patch to fix it and by 8pm mon night, i was completely a different person. i felt 200% better. i felt jipped!! tues, he was circumsized at 11am and we figured we would be out of there by noon but he hadn't peed by 3:30 and they like to keep the baby there until they pee for the first time to make sure everything is ok. the nurse said that if he hadn't peed by 4pm we could leave. as soon as we got home, tony checked his diaper cuz he thought he was poohing and sure enough tony got peed on!! HAHA. wed, we went shopping for clothes, diapers, pj's and formula. you have never seen two parents so unprepared. it was my fault. i procrasinated thinking i have enough time when i really obvioulsy didn't!! today, he had a check-up. he weighs 6 lbs 14 oz and is totally healthy. the pediatrician couldn't be any happier. we also bought a minivan today for our extended family but won't have it til tues/wed of next week so i have no pic to show of that. but i do have something better.....pix of my two beautiful children!!!!!

mady's shirt says "i'm the big sister" and has the same pix of the two babies faces on it.

I think he looks a lot like Mady...and he looks so dang tiny in the bathtub. So sweet.
And, dang girl, that bib is bigger than him :)
I think it's hilarious Tony got peed on. Now the question is, which is worse, Will's toothbrush being peed on or Tony??? lol

I really don't like posting comments, because I never know what to write, but I have to tell you, them are 2dang cute kids!!!!! - and I can't think of a more deserving person to be peed (or poohed on, for that matter) than Tony. He had that coming for all he's done !!! Besides, he might as well get used to it, because he'll only do it more as time goes on. I didn't think he had so much hair (Kian, of course)but he totally does. I gotta go; the 'phones are going nuts today - unlike yesterday. It was so good to talk to you last night and I can't wait to see you all ----- well ----- maybe I could wait to see Tony!!!! Ha ha ha.

i havebeen informed that ileft out some humor from my labor & delivery and postpartum period but i am too lazy to mention them now. so when i get around to it, unless if i reminded, i will mention those too so everyone hears that not everything went bad. it was quite an entertaining experience at times to be there. tony did an excellent job at keep the mood calm and being funny.
